Hi there! I'm Dustin Brownlee, the proud owner of Transition Painting since 2016. Alongside my wonderful wife, Emily, and our three kids, Dorian, Shay, and Dalan, we've made a cozy life for ourselves just outside of Overbrook, Kansas.
When I'm not bringing new life to homes and businesses with a fresh coat of paint, I'm out in nature, hunting and fishing, hanging out with family, or watching our youngest at his sporting events.
For me, life is about those transitions–from the outdoors, to the joy of family time, and from one colorful project to the next. I look forward to working with you!

After the consultation, we'll guide you through the color selection process, helping you choose the perfect palette for your space. We'll also schedule the project at a time that's convenient for you and plan the job well to minimize disruption.
Preparation & Protection
We'll prepare your space for painting, which includes covering furniture, filling in any holes or cracks, and sanding surfaces as needed. Rest assured, we treat your home with the utmost care, ensuring everything is protected and clean.

What is your time frame usually?This is always a hard one to answer, but I'm able to start most jobs within one to two weeks, depending on weather and project specifics.

Do you think this color will look good?This is a loaded question, because I am really only qualified to apply it. I am always willing to meet at your home with an interior designer. Most homeowners find what they're looking for on Pinterest, at friends' homes (ask them what color they used), or Houzz.com also offers a lot of help.

What paint do you use?We use and recommend PPG Manor Hall paints for interior and exterior work. However, we run into projects that just need a fresh coat or the homeowner prefers to keep the original manufacturer. That is not a problem, we can obtain any paint necessary.

Where can I pick colors?Almost anywhere. Our supplier has crossover matches to all major paint manufacturers and easily match them. If not, we can take a small sample of the paint on the wall.

Does someone need to be there?Only if it makes you more comfortable; our team members are trustworthy and will only need entry. We're happy to lock up at the end of the day.

Do I need to provide anything?A relatively open work space and entry onto/into the property is all we need. We also understand the limitations of space and can arrange to help move things. We provide everything else, materials, labor, and equipment.

Do you have a warranty?Yes. Every job comes with a one year workmanship warranty. We use high quality materials and properly prepare the surfaces. We typically do not receive calls pertaining to warranty work.

Are you insured?We carry general liability insurance, as most professional painters do.

How does payment work? What payment methods do you accept or prefer?Payment terms are 50% down payment at project start and 50% upon completion. We accept cash, check, or credit card.

Do you serve all NE Kansas?We prefer to stay in the Lawrence, Topeka, Ottawa, and Osage County areas.
